Popular comedian, actor, and social activist Mr Macaroni has launched a scathing attack on Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing its members of hypocrisy and double standards in governance.
The outspoken entertainer, known for using satire to address political and social issues, made the remarks on X while reacting to the federal government’s recent decision to grant presidential pardons to 175 convicts and ex-convicts, a move that has sparked intense public backlash.
Mr Macaroni’s reaction followed the resurfacing of an old 2013 tweet by Dada Olusegun, now a presidential media aide, who had at the time condemned the Goodluck Jonathan administration for pardoning former Bayelsa State governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who was convicted of corruption.
In his decade-old tweet, Olusegun had written:
“In saner climes, civil society organizations should be on the streets protesting the pardon of the criminal Alams by now.”
However, following the recent presidential pardon under the current APC-led administration, the resurfaced tweet reignited outrage online, prompting Mr Macaroni’s fiery response.
He wrote:
“Every evil that the APC once condemned, they now practice and support. APC is a party filled with the most corrupt people surrounded by the worst sycophants. A marriage of doom and misfortune! Tueh Kelebe!”
The comedian’s post has since gone viral, drawing widespread engagement from Nigerians who share similar sentiments about the perceived moral contradictions of the ruling party.
Many users echoed Macaroni’s criticism, noting that the APC once positioned itself as a party of integrity and reform but has, over time, become entangled in the same political behaviors it once denounced.
Political analysts and civic commentators have also weighed in, warning that the government’s decision to pardon individuals convicted of corruption and drug-related offenses could undermine public trust and erode the credibility of anti-corruption agencies like the NDLEA and EFCC, as well as the judiciary.
Mr Macaroni, whose real name is Debo Adedayo, has earned a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most fearless celebrity voices, often calling out political leaders and government policies he deems unjust. From the #EndSARS protests to issues of governance and accountability, the comedian continues to use his platform to advocate for transparency, justice, and good leadership.
As debates around the presidential pardon continue, many Nigerians have hailed Mr Macaroni’s bold stance as yet another reminder that entertainers can also be powerful voices for social change.
