There is a video from the Spanish version of the racy dating show La Isla de las Tentaciones (Temptation Island) that has gone viral, captivating audiences worldwide and also those who don’t speak Spanish.
The video has been viewed millions of times, sparking memes and heated discussions.
In the clip, contestant José Carlos Montoya is on a beach with host Sandra Barneda when he’s shown a live feed from the Temptation Island house, a few hundred meters down the coast.
The footage reveals his girlfriend, Anita Williams, sharing a passionate kiss with fellow contestant Manuel before getting under the covers for what appears to be an intimate moment.
While bedroom cameras are normal on the show, Anita and Manuel seem unaware that Montoya is watching them in real-time.
Montoya could not hold it in any longer as he rips at his clothes, collapses, and then bolts down the beach in an attempt to confront Anita and Manuel.
The production crew and host struggle to keep up as he tries to enter the villa. Security stops him from barging in, leaving him to fall to the ground, crying in anguish as the host attempts to console him.
Despite Montoya’s dramatic reaction, Spanish viewers have pointed out that he cheated on Anita first. Clips from earlier in the season show Montoya engaging in a flirty lap dance and kissing another woman. Many online are debating whether Anita’s actions were justified payback or if she took things too far.
The Meaning of ‘Montoya Por Favor’
A key phrase from this viral scene, “Montoya, por favor!” (which translates to “Please, Montoya, please!”), has also become an internet sensation. It originates from the host’s desperate attempts to calm him down during his emotional breakdown.
“Streets saying Montoya cheated first, but it was just a small lap dance and a kiss.” Someone reacted.
Another said: “I’m so confused, why did she start crying at the end?”
Another praises the show, “This is peak reality TV. Absolute gold.”
