ANNANDALE, VA — Two people are fighting for their lives after a mass stabbing on the Capital Beltway (I-495) near Washington D.C. ended in a police shooting.
Virginia State Police shot a suspect Sunday evening after a horrific mass stabbing on the Capital Beltway.
The violence broke out on the outer loop of I-495 near Little River Turnpike in Annandale, Virginia.

At least three people were stabbed during the attack, which occurred just outside Washington D.C.
Two of the victims are currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

First responders performed CPR on one person at the scene as multiple ambulances arrived.
Troopers opened fire on the suspect, who was also reportedly struck by gunfire during the confrontation.

There is still no motive or any information released by Virginia State Police as of 3 p.m. for this stabbing attack on the Beltway in Fairfax County.
Hopefully, officials with VSP will release more information by the end of the day.

Fairfax County Police are assisting state troopers with a total shutdown of the I-495 outer loop.
The highway remains closed near the nation’s capital as investigators process the massive crime scene.
Motorists are being told to avoid the area as heavy traffic delays stretch toward D.C.
Virginia State Police are expected to release more information about the suspect and a possible motive later today.
