Lagos State officials apprehended a 27-year-old man, Adamu Ismail, for stealing fence wire mesh at Peace Park in Ojota on Monday.
LASPARK personnel caught him in the act and handed him over to the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) for processing and prosecution.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, shared details of the incident on X, emphasizing the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward vandalism.
“Acts of vandalism against public infrastructure will not be tolerated,” Wahab stated.
“These facilities belong to all of us, and protecting them is a shared responsibility. We will continue to enforce without compromise to safeguard public assets across Lagos.”
A photo accompanying the post shows Ismail sitting on the ground with the stolen wire mesh, ropes, and clothing nearby, highlighting the scene of the apprehension.
