Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has showered encomiums on his Atalanta teammates for qualifying for the Champions League next season.
Gasperini’s side booked a place in the competition following a 2-1 win over Roma on Monday night.
Lookman played a key role in ensuring a swift return to Europe’s top tier competition by scoring his 20th goal in all competitions to hand Atalanta the maximum points.
The reigning African footballer of the year was named the player of the match in the encounter following his impressive showing.
He has now expressed pride at Atalanta’s performances this season which handed them a place in the Champions League for the second consecutive season.
Lookman said: “It’s a great feeling, we knew the importance of the game today to qualify for the Champions League. We put in a performance tonight that was deserving of that.
“I try to be available whenever I can, so that’s important, I try to give my best. The team showed we are strong, there are two more games, we want to finish with as many points as possible.
“Another game on Sunday, we’re looking forward to it, but tonight is a good night to celebrate. It’s not easy to do what we did this season, so congratulations to everybody.”
Atalanta are now guaranteed a place in the top three behind Napoli and Inter Milan, and they are seven points clear of fourth-placed Juventus with two games remaining.
Lookman will be hoping to add to his tally in the Italian Serie A when Atalanta take on Genoa on Saturday.
