The Lagos State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of two residents kidnapped from a settlement along Ijede Creek in Ikorodu on Friday, May 23, 2025.
The victims, both residents of the creek side community, were released unharmed at approximately 10:00 PM on Sunday, May 25, 2025, following a robust rescue operation.
The incident was reported to the Ijede Division at around 10:00 PM on May 23, after gunshots were heard in the vicinity.
A combined force of over fifteen police tactical squads, detectives, conventional policemen, local vigilantes, hunters, and community members was swiftly mobilized. Under the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, the teams strategically blocked all entry and exit points to the creek and surrounding forest, exerting significant pressure on the kidnappers. This coordinated effort led to the safe release of the victims.
The rescued individuals have been reunited with their families, and ongoing operations are underway to apprehend the kidnappers and prevent further attacks.
CP Jimoh commended the bravery of the police personnel, vigilantes, hunters, and locals involved, noting the challenges posed by the difficult terrain.
The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of all Lagos residents and urged the public, particularly those in Ijede Creek and similar areas, to remain vigilant.
