The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its enforcement of the law regulating the use of tinted glasses on vehicles.

The operation, which began on October 2, gained “renewed momentum” on October 3, 2025. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, personally led and monitored the exercise.

Why the Enforcement?

CP Jimoh stated the operation is intended to enhance public safety, curb criminal activities, and ensure compliance with road safety regulations. He stressed that the goal is not to inconvenience law-abiding citizens.

What Drivers Must Do

  1. Get a Permit: Vehicle owners who wish to use tinted glass must obtain an approved permit by registering at the official police website: possap.gov.ng.
  2. Remove Tints: Those not seeking a permit are advised to immediately remove aftermarket tints or replace factory-fitted tinted glasses with transparent ones, in line with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004.

The Police Command confirmed that vehicles found with tinted glasses without valid permits will be impounded, and offenders will be prosecuted.

Zero Tolerance for Misconduct CP Jimoh has directed all officers to carry out the exercise with the highest level of professionalism, free from harassment or extortion. He warned that any officer found guilty of misconduct will face disciplinary measures, with their commanders also being held responsible.

The public is urged to cooperate with the police and use the Lagos State Police Command Complaint Response Unit to report any unprofessional conduct.
