Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, became one of the standout voices at the wedding of Afrobeats star Mr Eazi (Tosin Ajibade) and billionaire heiress Temi Otedola, where he delivered a speech filled with warmth, humor, and timeless wisdom.
As Chairman of the occasion, Dangote charmed the audience with his candid reflections, beginning by hailing Iceland, the couple’s choice of venue, as “a very special place.” He admitted it was his first visit to the Nordic country and joked that he had been asleep since arriving but canceled several engagements just to be present, stressing that Temi was “a very, very special person to the family.”
Turning his attention to the groom, Dangote praised Mr Eazi not just for his music but for his entrepreneurial achievements, which he admitted had taken him by surprise. “Calm, humble, and a rare blend of musician and businessman,” he said, noting that the singer’s business footprint spans 18 African countries. With a smile, he told the bride, “Temi, you are lucky to have such a husband.”
For Temi, Dangote recalled her independent streak and determination to succeed on her own terms despite her privileged background. He described her as “entrepreneurial, tough, and determined,” adding that those qualities would serve her well as she embarks on her marital journey.
When it came to advice, the billionaire gave the couple a gem to hold on to: “Keep your marriage private.” He encouraged them to resolve their matters discreetly, remain close to each other, and avoid external interference.
In a lighter moment, he teased them about starting a family soon, jokingly promising to throw a “very big party” to celebrate the birth of their first child within the next year whether in London, Miami, or even back in Iceland.
Dangote ended his remarks by commending Femi Otedola, the bride’s father, for pulling off what he described as “the greatest wedding of the year” and “a truly historic celebration.”
