Nigerian music sensation Adedamola Adefolahan, better known as Fireboy DML, has revealed a surprising truth about his love life: he has never experienced heartbreak. The 29-year-old singer made the revelation during a recent appearance on the 90s Baby Show, offering a rare and introspective look into his emotional world.
Despite being the voice behind numerous soulful love songs like ‘Playboy’ and ‘Vibration,’ Fireboy DML admitted he has managed to avoid the emotional turmoil that often inspires such music. The singer shared that he once considered experiencing heartbreak just for the sake of growth or inspiration but ultimately decided against it.
“I have never had my heart broken. I wanted to experience heartbreak ,but I didn’t want to anymore. Not at this age. I think it would ruin me,” he confessed.
In an attempt to understand what heartbreak truly feels like, Fireboy takes an unusual approach, reaching out to some of his past romantic interests to hear their side of the story.
“What I heard was not nice. Also, I think we break our own hearts. That is my theory. Ninety percent of the time, if you have your heart broken, look inward, you definitely had something to do with it,” he added.
According to the Afrobeats star, many heartbreaks stem from people ignoring early red flags or gut instincts in relationships.
“There were some points when you saw the signs, there were sometimes when your instincts tell you that you shouldn’t involve yourself in some relationships, but then the heart wants what it wants,” Fireboy said.
He wrapped up his heartfelt reflection by labeling heartbreak a deeply painful experience, one he’s not ready to risk enduring.
At this stage in his life and career, Fireboy DML seems more focused on self-awareness and emotional protection than diving into love recklessly.
