Veteran Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has broken his silence on the viral claim made by his mother that he was kidnapped and missing.
The iconic singer addressed the controversy with sarcasm during a recent appearance at a comedy show hosted by comedian Acapella, where he joked about the situation while performing on stage.
In a now-viral video clip from the event, 2Baba quipped, “Allegedly, I have been missing. Allegedly, I have been kidnapped. So as we come to the Acapella show, this show is to generate money for the kidnappers to release me.”
His statement drew laughter from the audience, but it also served as a subtle way of acknowledging the intense media and public attention surrounding his personal life in recent weeks.
The comment comes on the heels of a controversial video posted by 2Face’s mother, Rose Idibia, who claimed her son had been “kidnapped without a trace.” Her emotional appeal came amid the singer’s ongoing divorce rumors and alleged involvement with Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
In her plea, Mrs. Idibia called on the lawmaker to “free” her son, expressing concern that he may not be in his right state of mind and accusing Natasha of using beads on his hand and neck to control him.
2Face’s sarcastic response appears to be his way of brushing off the rumors, even as the situation continues to stir public speculation.
While he has yet to directly address the full scope of his mother’s allegations or the state of his marriage, his latest appearance suggests he’s taking the drama in stride, at least publicly.
