The Lagos State Government has started demolishing illegal structures to combat recurring floods.
This morning, the Drainage Enforcement and Compliance (DEC) team removed buildings along Ologborogan Olusesi Street, off Orchid Road, in Eti-Osa.
According to Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, these structures were built illegally on drainage paths. Their presence blocked the flow of stormwater, leading to regular flooding in the area.
Wahab stated that the removal of these buildings is a necessary step to protect the lives and properties of residents.
