Nigerian rapper and songwriter Ice Prince Zamani has addressed growing concerns over his noticeable weight loss, assuring fans that he is in perfect health and that his transformation is the result of a deliberate lifestyle change, not illness.
The ‘Oleku’ hitmaker took to X on Monday to share the inspiring backstory behind his new lean physique, explaining that his decision to lose weight came after he realised he had gained excess belly fat from years of poor eating habits and unhealthy living.
According to Ice Prince, a casual conversation with close friends and collaborators Chopstix and Dami became the turning point that motivated him to begin his fitness journey.
“God so good inna me life… A short story!
I was literally about to explode… no sickness (Bless God), just bad habits and choices,” he wrote.
“Then Chopstix and Dami said, ‘Let’s lose the belly, Ice.’ That really sparked something in my brain that got me activated.”
He went on to reveal that Chopstix played a vital role in keeping him accountable, visiting him daily to take evening walks around his estate.
“From that meeting, my brother Chopstix started coming to my house every day after dinner and we both walked my estate for an hour.
Our talks during those walks are priceless to me, as every other thing we’ve talked about since we were kids!” Ice Prince added.
The rapper’s post quickly went viral, earning him praise from fans and fellow artists who applauded his commitment to self-improvement and discipline.
In recent years, several Nigerian celebrities have sparked conversations about body transformation and health awareness.
Notably, actress Eniola Badmus shocked the internet in 2022 after shedding nearly 80 kilograms, dropping from 170kg to 90kg, while Mercy Johnson-Okojie also made headlines earlier this year after a dramatic weight loss, which she later revealed was connected to a thyroid operation.
Ice Prince’s story, however, stands out as a tale of self-awareness and wellness. His transformation underscores the growing trend of Nigerian entertainers prioritizing health, fitness, and longevity over appearances.
As fans celebrate his new look, the rapper’s message is clear: he’s not sick, just better, stronger, and more intentional about his well-being.
