Controversial social media activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has stirred up fresh drama surrounding the late singer Mohbad’s death, revealing behind-the-scenes moves involving Naira Marley and actress Iyabo Ojo.
In a candid TikTok broadcast, VDM disclosed that he had encouraged Naira Marley to press charges against Iyabo Ojo for cyberbullying and defamation, following her vocal involvement in the online outrage that trailed Mohbad’s tragic passing in 2023. Ojo had been among the top celebrities who openly accused Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, of playing a role in the late singer’s alleged harassment.
According to VDM, he believed Iyabo Ojo’s online comments severely damaged Naira Marley’s reputation and music career. He said legal action was already being considered, but Naira Marley eventually backed down after a dramatic apology session.
“I told Naira Marley to detain Iyabo Ojo but he said Allah will judge,” VDM began, narrating how he had prepped the singer to demand justice at the Lagos State Commissioner of Police’s office. “I told him to lose his cool the moment we enter the Police Commissioner’s office and say Iyabo Ojo’s defamatory remarks have ruined his career and tarnished his image. He said okay, but when he got there and Iyabo apologized in Yoruba, Naira Marley immediately forgave her. I almost died where I was sitting. I was so upset and disappointed.”
VDM added that Naira Marley’s change of heart shocked even Sam Larry, who had accompanied them to the meeting.
“When Samlarry saw that Naira Marley had accepted Iyabo Ojo’s apology, he protested against it. I was signalling Naira Marley not to accept the apology because I know Iyabo Ojo won’t keep to her end of the agreement. Samlarry shed tears,” he revealed.
The incident adds another layer to the already complex narrative of Mohbad’s untimely death, which had triggered nationwide protests and calls for justice. While emotions continue to run high among fans and observers, a Lagos court had earlier acquitted Naira Marley and Sam Larry of any direct involvement in the singer’s death.
As the dust settles, VDM’s revelation raises questions about public apologies, the power of online narratives, and whether true justice was served or simply deferred.
