Award-winning Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has made a heartfelt revelation about her personal life, admitting that at 44, she is yet to experience what she believes is “true love.”
In a candid interview with UK media personality Zeze Mills, the Afrobeats star explained that aside from the unconditional love she shares with her son, Jamil, she hasn’t truly felt genuine love from anyone.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Because every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time I thought I was in love. I don’t think I experienced true love even when I was married,” she said.
Tiwa reflected on her past romantic experiences, revealing that she once mistook intense attraction and excitement for love, but now sees them differently.
The “Somebody’s Son” crooner added that after several attempts to find real love, she has begun to accept the possibility that it may never happen for her.
“Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she admitted.
Tiwa Savage was married to her former manager, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, in 2013. The marriage, however, ended in divorce in 2018 after failed attempts to resolve their differences. The union produced her only child, Jamil.
Her honest confession has sparked conversations online, with fans expressing sympathy, surprise, and admiration for her openness about such a personal subject.
