History Made In Ikenne As Remo Stars Win First-ever NPFL Title

Remo Stars defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in Ikenne on Sunday to win their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League in Ikenne.

The Sky Blue Stars sealed the title with a slim victory thanks to a late goal by Adebayo Olamilekan.

Remo Stars have now earned 68 points from 35 matches, 10 points clear of second-placed Rivers United with three matches to go.

Remo Stars made history as the first privately owned club to win the NPFL title after defunct Udoji United in 1996.

The Sky Blue Stars are also the first club from the South West to win the trophy after defunct Julius Berger in 2000.

They will now represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League next season.

Remo Stars finished as runners-up in the last two seasons in the NPFL.
