Nigeria Football Federation President, Musa Gusau, and the owner of Remo Stars football club, Hon. Kunle Soname have rewarded the Flamingos with a sum of six million naira for defeating Algeria 4-0.
The Nigeria U-17 girls earned a comfortable win in the first leg of their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Ikenne on Saturday.
In a bid to reward their impressive performance, Gusau, and Soname have encouraged the team with a huge sum.
NFF President Musa Gusau gave the team a sum of two million naira while Kunle Soname handed the four million naira for the victory.
Queen Joseph scored a brace while Zainab Raji and Aishat Animashaun added the other goals to hand the team a commanding first-leg win.
Queen Joseph opened the scoring as early as the first minute, finishing off an assist from Philomena Isaiah with aplomb.
Raji scored a fine individual goal to make it 2-0 in the 13th minute.
Joseph completed her brace in the 17th minute with a long-range effort, and substitute Animashaun Aishat put the icing on the cake with a stunning effort in the second half.
The Flamingos held on to seal a comfortable victory ahead of the second leg in Algiers on Friday.
Gusau charged the girls to go to Algiers and play their hearts out to win the World Cup ticket for Nigeria.
Both teams will make it a date in the return leg at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida on Friday.
The winner on aggregate to qualify as one of Africa’s five flag-bearers at this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals in Morocco.
