Tensions soared during the latest episode of the Big Brother Naija Season 9 Reunion as drama erupted between former housemates Nelly Mbonu and Kassia, with Nelly accusing Kassia of being the reason her once-close friendship with Kellyrae, Kassia’s husband, fell apart.
The three were part of one of the season’s most intriguing dynamics, especially after Kellyrae shocked the house with the revelation that he and Kassia were secretly married. Before the disclosure, Nelly and Kellyrae shared a visible bond that many fans speculated could have evolved into something more if not for the twist.
Speaking candidly during the reunion, Nelly revealed that her friendship with Kellyrae is now over and pointed fingers at Kassia for its collapse.
“It never for once felt like me and Kellyrae had issues,” she said, when asked to explain the shift in their relationship.
Show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu pressed further, asking when she began to notice a change in Kellyrae’s behavior. Nelly didn’t mince words.
“Obviously, it’s the wife,” she replied bluntly.
The comment triggered a sharp reaction from Kassia, who interrupted with disbelief:
“Hmm? You stopped talking to him. What do you mean by, ‘obviously, it’s the wife’?”
Unfazed, Nelly shot back,
“Can you shut up and let me speak? … Anyways, like I was saying, the wife obviously had issues with me in the house [on the show] because I told Onyeka you said something that you told me Onyeka told you. That thing you told me, you were so confident that Onyeka told you that Onyeka told you that. You never told me that it was your instincts.”
The fallout, Nelly explained, began when Kassia lied to her about a comment supposedly made by fellow housemate Onyeka; a claim Nelly later found out was largely fabricated.
Kassia attempted to clarify, saying:
“I said two things. Onyeka said the first one, the second one was my instincts. Maybe you didn’t understand.”
Despite Kassia’s explanation, the damage appears to have been done both to their friendship and to Nelly’s once-strong bond with Kellyrae. As fans continue to dissect the drama online, it’s clear that the emotional wounds from the BBNaija house are still very fresh for some of the ex-housemates.
