Tensions are rising in the Big Brother Naija Season 10 house, and it’s not just about tasks or nominations, matters of the heart are stirring drama once again.
One of the housemates, Kola, has decided to take a step back from his pursuit of fellow housemate Dede after weeks of professing love and chasing what now seems like an unattainable romantic connection.
Kola, who had been vocal about his feelings for Dede from early on in the show, appeared convinced that their bond could blossom into something deeper. However, Dede has continued to maintain that she’s in a committed relationship outside the house, repeatedly telling Kola that she wants only friendship.
Despite her stance, Kola hadn’t backed down until now. The turning point came after his diary session with Biggie and a therapy session with in-house therapist Ibifubara.
Speaking to fellow housemates afterward, Kola expressed frustration that Dede was toying with his emotions, especially in light of her increasingly close friendships with male housemates Jason Jae and Koyin.
During a candid conversation with Sabrina, Kola shared his realization that the dynamic between him and Dede was beginning to mirror the infamous Ozo-Nengi saga from BBNaija Lockdown Season in 2020.
“She is giving mixed signals,” he told Sabrina.
“You are the only one dedicated to her [Dede],” Sabrina replied, also hinting that Dede might be having other private conversations: “Only God knows the conversations she has with Koyin and Jason Jae.”
Kola then made his feelings clear, saying: “I hope my team changes the narrative of this Ozo and Nengi thing, I will do the same when I come out.”
This marks a dramatic shift in his approach to Dede, suggesting that he’s ready to refocus his energy and possibly avoid the kind of public embarrassment Ozo faced when his emotional investment in Nengi wasn’t fully reciprocated.
It will be recalled that during the 2020 BBNaija Lockdown season, Ozo’s unrequited love for Nengi became a major storyline. Despite Nengi insisting on a platonic relationship and mentioning a partner outside the house, she often leaned into Ozo’s affection, a dynamic that sparked ridicule and led to Ozo being labeled a “simp” by some viewers.
With Kola now vowing to distance himself and rewrite the narrative, viewers are watching to see whether his change in tactics will shift dynamics or if the Dede drama is just heating up.
