Chicago Police disarmed 18-year-old Alfredo Tzoy on a nearby porch minutes after responding to a disturbance on South Emerald Avenue where an 18-year-old woman was killed.
Chicago Police Department officers have charged an 18-year-old man with first-degree murder following a fatal overnight stabbing in Englewood.
Prosecutors charged Alfredo Tzoy, 18, in connection with the September 22, 2026, killing of an 18-year-old female victim.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. when 7th District police officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the 7300 block of South Emerald Avenue.
Responding officers found the 18-year-old female victim lying on the ground suffering from a severe stab wound to her neck.
Paramedics rushed the victim to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where medical staff pronounced her dead shortly after arrival.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet publicly released her identity.
Officers conducting a search of the immediate area located Tzoy sitting on the porch of a nearby home on South Emerald Avenue at 1:54 a.m.
Tzoy suffered an apparent stab wound to his arm and was still holding a sharp object when officers approached him.
Police disarmed Tzoy without further incident and recovered the weapon at the scene.
Paramedics transported Tzoy to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, where officers placed him under police custody while receiving medical treatment.
Cook County prosecutors formally filed one felony count of first-degree murder against Tzoy.
Tzoy is scheduled for a detention hearing on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse located at 2600 South California Avenue.
