The FBI has identified the shooter involved in the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
This shocking event took place at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, just two days before the start of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where Trump was set to formally become the party’s nominee.
According to the US Secret Service, Crooks “fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside the rally” before being “neutralized” by agents.
The chaos unfolded as Donald Trump was addressing his supporters, and he was quickly rushed off the stage with visible blood streaked across his face.
Thomas Matthew Crooks was named by the FBI “as the subject involved in the assassination attempt of Donald Trump.” A voter-registration record revealed that he was registered as a Republican, adding another layer of intrigue to the incident.
