Chicago Police Department officers have charged a 48-year-old man with attempted murder three months after a violent fight left a teenager shot in the chest.
Police identified the suspect as Shauntay Sardin, a resident living in the 1900 block of East 72nd Place in South Shore.
Officers apprehended Sardin on Monday along the 5100 block of South Indiana Avenue following a multi-month investigation.
The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. on June 20 along the 700 block of East 47th Street.
Investigators report that an argument broke out between the victim and another male along the commercial Bronzeville corridor.
The verbal dispute escalated into a physical confrontation when the offender pulled out a firearm and opened fire.
A 15-year-old boy suffered a direct gunshot wound to the chest during the sudden discharge of gunfire.
Emergency medical responders rushed the injured teenager to Comer Children’s Hospital for urgent trauma care.
