An overnight accident involving a tanker and a truck on the Third Mainland Bridge has resulted in significant traffic congestion for Lagos commuters heading towards the Island this morning.
The collision occurred near the Unilag waterfront axis, affecting the lanes heading towards the Island.
As of 6:58 AM, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that traffic is moving slowly from the Tollgate towards Iyana Oworo due to the incident.
LASTMA personnel and officers from the Nigerian Police Force are currently at the scene managing the situation. Safety cones have been placed behind the vehicles to prevent further incidents.
Efforts are underway to evacuate the damaged vehicles and restore normal traffic flow.
Commuters are advised to exercise patience and seek alternative routes if possible. LASTMA personnel continue to monitor the area closely.
