Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, has come under heavy fire on social media after a fan criticised him for excluding the Afrobeats superstar from his end-of-year playlist.
A music lover identified as ABEFE on X stirred controversy when he urged Davido to relieve Asa of his duties. The outrage began after Asa shared his most-played songs and top artists of the year—none of which featured Davido. Instead, the playlist highlighted acts like MGK, Justin Bieber and Ryan Leslie.
Reacting sharply to the omission, ABEFE wrote:
“If I’m Davido today, I will sack Asaasika, he’s not worthy to be his manager… ika ni Bobo yen… he doesn’t love working with David.”
His comment quickly ignited a heated debate online, with users divided on whether a manager is obligated to promote their artiste’s music through personal playlists. While some agreed with ABEFE, others argued that personal taste shouldn’t determine professional competence.
The conversation continues to trend as fans weigh in on loyalty, professionalism and the blurred lines between personal preference and industry responsibility.
