Nigerian music star Ayra Starr has officially confirmed that she has relocated from Lagos to New York City. The Mavin Records singer revealed the news during a recent appearance on Hot 93.7FM’s Buck N Regg show.
Ayra Starr, 23, shared that she has always felt a strong spiritual connection to New York and finally made the move less than two months ago. According to her, the bustling city gives her the same energy she feels in Lagos and the large Nigerian community makes it feel like home.
“I live in New York now, I officially moved in less than two months ago,” she said. “I’m always in New York regardless, it reminds me so much of Lagos. There are many Nigerians here, so it feels like home.”
She added that although she initially felt unsure about relocating, a moment on stage made everything click.
“I was skeptical about moving here… I remember being on stage and feeling like I might move here. It felt like a moment of surrender, and I realized I really like it here,” she said.
Ayra Starr emphasized that she knows exactly why she made the move and is fully focused on her goals while still enjoying the experience.
“I know why I am here. I know my priorities. And I’m here for a good time,” she concluded.
