Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has stirred controversy once again after reacting to backlash over the viral incident where he kicked a couple out of his Denver concert for falling asleep during his performance.
The woman involved had earlier claimed that the experience left her emotionally shaken, prompting widespread criticism of the singer’s behaviour.
But in a recent livestream addressing the matter, Burna Boy doubled down rather than apologized. He bluntly stated that he never begged anyone to be his fan, adding that he’s only interested in wealthy supporters.
“Did I tell you all to be my fans? I am only looking for fans who have money this period,” he said confidently.
His comments have triggered fresh outrage online, with many accusing him of disrespecting the very people who contribute to his global success. Some fans have even threatened to “cancel” him over his attitude.
This is not the first time Burna Boy has clashed with fans during performances. He previously kicked a starstruck male fan who ran on stage to hug him, and on another occasion, asked a concert attendee to leave for not dancing. He did not apologise after either incident.
The latest remarks have reignited debate about the singer’s relationship with his fanbase and his increasingly controversial stage conduct.
