Tension continues to rise in the family of Nollywood star Regina Daniels as her brother, Samuel Daniels, popularly known as Sammy West, regains freedom after spending days in detention but the family claims the battle is far from over.
According to Regina’s elder brother, Lawrence Daniels (also known as Sweezy), Senator Ned Nwoko, the actress’s husband, is allegedly making moves to have Sammy re-arrested even after he was granted bail.
Sweezy, in a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, thanked Nigerians for their unwavering support, writing:
“Sammy, you’re a great man! Bail has been granted. Nigerians, thank you. From day one, I’ve said it, I believe you in this media space. None of your efforts are taken for granted. On behalf of the Daniels family, I say thank you. Thank God say man no be God.”
However, Lawrence alleged that Ned Nwoko was behind Sammy’s initial arrest and has now allegedly involved the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in a bid to re-arrest him; a move he described as “unlawful and vindictive.”
He further argued that the supposed transfer of the case to the NDLEA was a breach of due process, noting that only a Federal High Court has jurisdiction over drug-related offences, not a Magistrate Court, where the initial case was filed.
The Daniels family fears the move is part of a larger plot to intimidate and silence Sammy following his release on ₦5 million bail earlier this week.
The ongoing family dispute between Regina Daniels and Senator Ned Nwoko has dominated public discourse in recent days, drawing attention to the deepening rift within one of Nollywood’s most talked-about families.
