Nigerian music star, Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has reacted to earning his first-ever Grammy nomination but in a rather surprising way.
The singer, whose collaboration with Davido on ‘With You’ bagged a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Grammy Awards, said while he’s thrilled about the recognition, awards don’t really matter to him.
Taking to his Instagram page, Omah Lay wrote:
“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards. Yeah but I really want it for OBO! He is the realest friend I’ve had in a while, he stood by during my hardest times.”
Omah Lay’s statement has stirred reactions among fans, with many praising his humility and loyalty toward Davido, whom he described as a true friend.
Despite being nominated four times in the past, Davido is yet to clinch a Grammy Award. The upcoming 2026 Grammy ceremony will see both stars competing in one of the most anticipated categories.
The 68th Grammy Awards will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast globally on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+.
