Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has once again set social media ablaze after boldly reaffirming that the devil played a role in his success as a secular artist.
In a viral video shared via his Instagram page, the self-acclaimed Akpako Master dismissed rumours of his death while making a shocking confession that reignited debate about spirituality in the music industry.
Terry G, known for his eccentric personality and energetic stage presence, stated that he owes his fame and fortune to dark powers, emphasizing that his journey to stardom was not ordinary.
“I didn’t die. Stop spreading lies. I’m alive and doing fine,” he said, addressing false reports that he had passed away. “But yes, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I served the devil, and that’s how I made it.”
His statement comes days after he had posted a cryptic message online asking fans to pray for him, which sparked speculation about his wellbeing. The post led to rumours of his death before the singer resurfaced with the now-viral video.
While many fans have expressed concern over his comments, others believe the singer may be using controversy to draw attention ahead of a possible comeback. Still, Terry G insisted that he was speaking his truth and not seeking validation.
“I’m fine, nothing happened to me,” he reiterated. “People should stop spreading fake news about my death. I just needed prayers, not lies.”
Terry G, who rose to fame in the late 2000s with hits like Free Madness, Akpako Master, and Run Mad, has long been one of Nigeria’s most controversial entertainers, known for blending gospel themes with secular lyrics and his unpredictable public persona.
His latest revelation has once again divided fans and critics with some calling for prayers and others questioning his motives.
