Nigerian senator and businessman Ned Nwoko has stirred social media debate after likening monogamy to “standing on one leg,” while defending his polygamous lifestyle amid his ongoing marital controversy with Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
Appearing on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” with Seun Okinbaloye on Sunday night, the Delta-born lawmaker expressed pity for men who have only one wife, claiming that polygamy offers greater “balance and stability” in a man’s life.
In his words:
“Just imagine telling you to stand on one leg, you know how difficult it is. But it is much more balanced to stand on two, three, or four.
I feel sorry for those with one wife. I don’t have any regrets, and I will do the same thing again.”
The statement, which has since gone viral, comes at a time when the senator’s marriage to his fourth wife, Regina Daniels, is reportedly on the rocks.
Regina, who tied the knot with Nwoko in 2019, recently sparked rumours of separation after she accused him of domestic violence in a viral video. In response, Nwoko fired back, accusing the actress of substance abuse, deepening speculations about their strained relationship.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Regina on Sunday evening shared a photo of herself standing on the balcony of a new house, which many believe marks her official move out of the marital mansion.
In the post, she wrote:
“I needed a roof over my head.”
The caption has since triggered mixed reactions online, with fans and social media users debating whether the actress has indeed walked out of her marriage.
Meanwhile, sources close to the actress claim the property, reportedly located in Lagos State, was recently acquired by Regina herself, a move many interpret as a declaration of independence.
As the drama continues to unfold, Nwoko’s controversial remarks about polygamy have reignited discussions on marriage, gender roles, and cultural values in Nigeria’s modern society.
