Cameroonian singer and entrepreneur Dencia has stirred conversation online after weighing in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
The outspoken singer took to social media to share her candid thoughts just days after reports emerged of a fallout between Regina and her much older husband. Dencia, known for her unapologetic opinions, didn’t mince words as she criticized young women who choose to marry older men for wealth or status.
Referencing Regina’s alleged marital troubles, Dencia questioned why “a young, fresh girl with so much potential” would sacrifice her youth and freedom for a man old enough to be her grandfather.
“Young, fresh girl like this, career and all, you go and give your youth to old grandpa turtle-looking man,” she wrote. “You thugged it out, wear fake designer bags, shoes, clothes, flaunt old cars and houses, and now he’s beating you? This could never be me.”
The singer went on to stress that she would never tolerate any form of abuse in a relationship, saying that if such ever happened to her, her friends would ensure the man faced dire consequences.
“If it was me, I know my friends are jumping him. There’s gonna be a funeral, and I’m inheriting all the old stuff,” she added jokingly.
Dencia also mocked the idea of flaunting a luxurious lifestyle while allegedly enduring mistreatment behind closed doors, arguing that material comfort should never come at the cost of happiness and self-worth.
Encouraging young women to set higher standards, she noted that there are plenty of successful, kind, and generous young men in the world, and women shouldn’t feel pressured to marry much older partners for financial gain.
“With all these generous young wealthy men out here… dear young girls, I promise you, you have many options and your grandpa ain’t one,” Dencia concluded.
Her post has since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions on social media. While some praised her for speaking truth to power, others accused her of using Regina’s situation to chase clout.
