Award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage, has made a surprising revelation about her openness to becoming a second wife, sparking conversations across social media.
Speaking on a recent episode of the American podcast, Air Service, the Afrobeats queen opened up about her current romantic reality, explaining that at this stage of her life, most of the men who express interest in her are either much older or already married.
“If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife,” she said.
The 44-year-old singer, known for her blend of boldness and vulnerability in her music, added that if she were to become a second wife, she would ensure peace in the home and maintain respect for her co-wife.
“I think I can get along with the first wife and she’s going to love me because I’m not going to be troublesome. I’ll be going on tours, I’m not really going to stress you. I’m very respectful, I know that you are the first wife and would accord you that respect,” Tiwa assured.
Her candid comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, while some fans praised her honesty and maturity, others expressed surprise that the “Somebody’s Son” crooner would consider polygamy after her past experiences.
Tiwa Savage was previously married to music executive Tunji Balogun, popularly known as TBillz, between 2013 and 2018. Their union produced a son before ending in a highly publicized separation, with both parties accusing each other of infidelity.
Despite her past heartbreak, Tiwa continues to champion themes of love, independence, and self-worth in her music, with fans noting that her latest comments reveal a woman who has grown more pragmatic and self-aware about relationships.
