Award-winning Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has fired back at an online troll who mocked her for using a simple plastic bag, popularly known as nylon, while gifting food to her guests.
The drama began after the actress shared a Snapchat video showing her hospitality towards some crew members who had visited her home. In the clip, she packed food items for them in the widely used yellow-and-black plastic bag, a gesture of kindness that unexpectedly drew criticism.
A Snapchat user, unimpressed by the packaging choice, wrote:
“Aunty Funke, you are not posh at all. Why yellow and black nylon?”
But Akindele, known for her sharp wit, wasted no time in clapping back. In a sarcastic yet fiery reply, she wrote:
“Oh, maybe I need to go and get plastic bags from Macy’s or Nordstrom. Elenu shipoti, you can come and buy nylon for me. I already blocked you. It’s a privilege for you to be seeing my snap. At least you can see I am an elderly person even if I am not old enough to be your mum. Wide mouth.”
Her response quickly went viral, with many fans applauding her for standing her ground and prioritizing kindness over appearances. Others praised her humility, noting that despite her billionaire status, she has remained relatable and unpretentious.
This isn’t the first time Funke Akindele has faced online criticism, but the actress has consistently shown that she won’t allow trolls to dictate how she lives her life.
