Nigerian music continues to set the global pace as streaming powerhouse Spotify unveiled its Top Afrobeats Artists of 2025, with Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy clinching the number one spot.
The list, which highlights the most streamed and influential Afrobeats acts of the year, was dominated entirely by Nigerian artists, a testament to the country’s unrivaled hold on the genre.
Rema secured second place, riding on the continued global success of his hit Calm Down, while Wizkid came in third, reinforcing his legacy as one of the genre’s pioneers. Fast-rising hitmaker Asake took fourth place, with Ayra Starr, recently signed to Roc Nation, rounding out the top five.
Surprisingly, Davido, often hailed as part of Afrobeats’ “Big 3” alongside Wizkid and Burna Boy, did not make the top five, sparking debates among fans online.
In addition to artist rankings, Spotify also revealed the top countries streaming Afrobeats in 2025. The United States led the charge, followed by Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Nigeria, highlighting Afrobeats’ massive international footprint.
With Burna Boy at the helm and new stars like Ayra Starr breaking barriers, 2025 further cements Afrobeats as one of the most powerful forces in global music.
