The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Samsideen Oladiti, aged 55, known as “Shamelon,” in connection with two violent crimes on Lagos Island. The suspect is now in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti-Yaba.
According to a police statement, Oladiti allegedly attacked a dispatch rider with a helmet and his fists on September 17, 2025, inflicting serious injuries. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital.
A separate complaint on September 18, 2025, linked Oladiti to another incident from August 28, 2025. In that case, the suspect allegedly used a metallic ring to repeatedly strike a man, who later died from his injuries on September 17, 2025. The victim’s body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Following the news of the death, sympathizers of the deceased mobilized at Oladiti’s office in Sandgrouse Market, Lagos Island, where they set two of his motorcycles ablaze.
In response, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, personally led a team of police personnel to the scene. He successfully restored order and assured residents that the suspect would be prosecuted after investigations are completed.
The Lagos State Police Command has urged the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
