Veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, has dismissed rumours of his death, assuring fans that he is alive, healthy, and still strong in spirit.
The comic star took to Instagram on Friday to address viral claims that he had passed away, describing the reports as false and malicious. In a video posted on his verified account, the 68-year-old actor urged his fans and family members to remain calm and to disregard the rumours.
“Fans and family, please disregard any rumors about my death, and kindly report the page of the blogger who started spreading them. I am very much alive by God’s grace,” Agu declared.
Reintroducing himself in his usual dramatic style, the actor said: “Chief Chiwetalu Agu, okenmiri n’ezoru Oha 1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State is not going to die anytime soon. Instead I will be the one to bury my enemies. Na who dig pit go fall inside. Na who dig grave go fall inside. I am yet to carry my grandchildren and I must carry them in good health when my children are ready.”
The Nollywood legend, famous for his witty catchphrases and satirical roles, also hinted at possible legal action against those spreading falsehoods about his death. However, he noted that the blogger who circulated the rumour lacked the credibility of major news platforms.
“If it were any of the big bloggers who carried the false information, I would have sued them for defamation, economic and business damage but the blogger involved is still struggling with likes,” he added.
Chiwetalu Agu’s clarification has since sparked relief and celebration among fans, many of whom flooded his page with prayers and words of support, reaffirming his place as one of Nollywood’s most loved veterans.
