Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has dismissed a viral video that falsely claims motorists are now allowed to use the BRT lane from Ojota to Anthony.
The agency issued a statement today to clarify that this information is completely false and misleading.
According to LASTMA, the use of the BRT corridor has only been temporarily and partially approved at specific locations: Odo-Iya Alaro and Eko Bridge.
This temporary approval is a measure to ease traffic while expansion joint rehabilitation is being carried out on the Ifako-Ogudu Bridge.
The agency stated that no permission has been given for motorists to use the BRT lane at Idi-Iroko inward Anthony or any other part of the Ikorodu Road axis.
LASTMA’s internal investigation found that no officer had issued any directive to allow vehicles on the restricted BRT lane.
The authority noted that at the time the video was filmed, the main road at Idi-Iroko was free of traffic, proving the claim in the video was fake.
The agency urged the public to stick to traffic rules and not to spread unverified information. It warned that anyone caught driving on the BRT corridor where it is not permitted will be arrested and face legal action.
LASTMA also advised residents to verify information through official channels and to disregard rumors from social media.
