Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, has stated that he will not align with the politics of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a recent interview on Channels TV’s “Politics Today,” he said that such a move would be a “complete waste of time” and that his purpose in politics is to “make the lives of Lagosians better.”
Rhodes-Vivour directly addressed the belief held by some that President Tinubu is synonymous with Lagos and that any successful politician must align with his structure.
He refuted this idea, arguing that it shows a lack of understanding of the city’s history. According to him, Lagos was a thriving city with a great history of its own long before Tinubu became governor
Rhodes-Vivour reiterated his consistency in opposition politics since 2016, stating that he has never aligned with the APC.
He believes that for Lagos to have a “breath of fresh air,” the “domination” of what he called a “agberocracy” must be removed.
He concluded by saying that any political platform that does not serve the commonwealth of Lagos for the benefit of its people is not worth his time..
