General Hospital Badagry has achieved a remarkable milestone, recording no maternal deaths in its Obstetrics and Gynecology Department for three consecutive months, May, June, and July 2025.
The hospital’s Mother and Child Care (MCC) Centre has been instrumental in this success, ensuring safe deliveries for mothers and their babies.
Dr. Olatunde Bakare, the Medical Director, praised the department’s efforts and thanked God for the achievement.
“Congratulations to all. Thank God for His mercies endureth forever. Please keep it up,” he said, encouraging the team to maintain their commitment to saving lives and supporting families.
Dr. Akinwunmi Akinyemi, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology, presented the report to Dr. Bakare last week.
He expressed joy at the milestone, crediting the teamwork of nurses, laboratory staff, pharmacists, records personnel, attendants, facility managers, and hospital management.
“This could only have been possible by the relentless efforts of everyone in the department,” Dr. Akinyemi said. He urged the staff to continue their hard work to further reduce maternal mortality in Badagry and Lagos State.
