Popular Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has publicly addressed ongoing rumours claiming he is making efforts to reconcile with his estranged wife, Mabel Makun.
In a strongly worded statement, AY denied ever authorising or making such claims, describing the reports as false and misleading. He stressed that if he had anything personal to communicate about his private life, it would not be through “faceless blogs and rumour-driven platforms” but via his own established channels.
The award-winning entertainer, who has built a successful career in comedy, film, and live events, issued what he called a final warning to those peddling stories about his marriage. He urged the public to disregard the speculations and announced that legal steps would be taken against individuals or platforms that continue to publish or promote defamatory narratives.
“Enough of the lies,” AY declared, making it clear that he would no longer tolerate fabricated stories about his relationship status.
It will be recalled that in 2023, AY confirmed the end of his nearly two-decade-long marriage to Mabel. At the time, he openly admitted that he had made mistakes and engaged in actions that contributed to the breakdown of their union, describing the loss of his home as one of his deepest regrets.
With his latest statement, AY has drawn a firm line against the circulation of falsehoods about his private life, making it clear that he intends to protect both his reputation and his family from unnecessary media drama.
