Nigerian singer Iyanya has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding talent manager Ubi Franklin, who was recently accused of stealing a luxury wristwatch during Davido’s star-studded wedding in Miami over the weekend.
The rumour, which first surfaced on Wednesday via a blog report, quickly spread across social media, drawing mixed reactions from the public.
Taking to his X account, Iyanya strongly condemned the allegations, insisting they were part of a calculated move by individuals in Davido’s circle who harbour dislike for Franklin.
In his words: “This is a Big lie. The jeweler has come out to deny this, it was a gist fabricated to tarnish Ubi’s name by those who don’t like him with that circle.
I will not let my brother be dragged for nothing.”
Meanwhile, Ubi Franklin has also addressed the matter directly, firmly denying any wrongdoing. In a statement shared via his X handle, Franklin described the rumours as “false and misleading,” further pointing out that luxury watch dealer Benny, the alleged owner of the missing timepiece had publicly debunked the claims earlier in the day.
With both Franklin and Iyanya standing their ground and the jeweler confirming there was no theft, the incident appears to be yet another example of how quickly misinformation can spread in the entertainment scene.
