The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has handed down a strong disciplinary action against Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, following his controversial altercation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
In a firm move to uphold aviation safety and protocol, the NCAA has blacklisted the music icon from boarding any commercial flights within Nigeria for a period of six months.
Speaking to TVC News, Michael Achimugu, Director of Consumer Protection at the NCAA, confirmed the sanction, citing K1’s alleged unruly behavior that disrupted standard boarding and departure procedures.
The enforcement follows a viral incident in which the singer was seen confronting airline staff and reportedly attempting to obstruct a ValueJet aircraft on the runway after being deboarded for allegedly violating aviation rules.
In addition to K1’s sanction, the NCAA disclosed that the pilots involved in the incident have had their licenses temporarily suspended, pending the conclusion of an internal investigation.
Achimugu emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline, order, and respect for aviation protocol, regardless of social standing or celebrity status.
“The fact that he is a well-known figure or even close to the President does not exempt him from the law,” he stated. “President Bola Tinubu himself is a respecter of the law and would not condone any act that undermines public safety or the regulatory authority of the NCAA.”
The NCAA’s response comes amid intense public debate on social media, with many speculating that the Fuji maestro would evade punishment due to his perceived ties to political elites.
However, the authority has made it clear: there are no ‘untouchables’ in Nigeria’s airspace.
This latest move sends a strong message to both the flying public and aviation professionals that misconduct, no matter how high-profile, will be met with consequences.
