Emmanuel Myam, a 25-year-old Nigerian adventurer known as Emmiwuks, marked a significant milestone in his audacious solo bicycle journey from Lagos, Nigeria, to the United States by arriving in Côte d’Ivoire after 31 days on the road.
Having set off on July 1, Emmiwuks has already pedaled through the Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana in just 10 days, showcasing remarkable endurance and determination.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Emmiwuks expressed gratitude and renewed commitment to his mission.
“Day 31 NIG 2 USA on bicycle. Welcome to République Côte d’Ivoire. A new day, a new country, a new chapter on this journey from Nigeria to the USA,” he wrote.
“From Ghana’s warmth to this new land’s embrace, the mission continues, for the orphans, the IDPs, the vulnerable, and the dreamers across Africa. Bonjour Côte d’Ivoire.”
Hailing from Benue State, Emmiwuks first gained attention in 2022 when he cycled from Makurdi to Lagos to meet Afrobeats star Davido.
Inspired by personal struggles and a near-death experience in 2023, his current journey, dubbed “NIG2USA,” aims to raise awareness and support for orphaned and displaced children affected by conflict across Africa.
His symbolic choice of a bicycle reflects the uphill battles these children face daily.
