The ongoing feud between controversial singer Portable and social media activist VeryDarkMan has taken a fiery turn, with both sides trading insults and diss tracks over an old allegation of theft.
It all began when VeryDarkMan called on President Bola Tinubu to take urgent action regarding the killings in Benue State and the rising economic hardship affecting Nigerians. But instead of joining the outcry, Portable took a different stance, defending the president in a viral Instagram video.
In his post, Portable urged VeryDarkMan to stop criticizing President Tinubu, arguing that it was under Tinubu’s administration that VeryDarkMan began living what he described as a “luxury lifestyle.”
Not one to back down, VeryDarkMan hit back by digging into Portable’s past, releasing an old video showing the Zazuu crooner being beaten for allegedly stealing a tricycle (popularly known as Keke) in 2020 long before he rose to stardom.
He went further on Wednesday morning by releasing a diss track where he repeatedly taunted Portable, chanting “Ole!” (which means “thief” in Yoruba), in reference to the alleged incident.
Portable, never one to ignore a challenge, fired back with his own diss snippet shared on Instagram. In it, he denied ever stealing the tricycle and launched a string of personal insults at VeryDarkMan.
“VeryDarkMan, your mother. You’re a poor person. Your father is a shoe maker, I take after my father I’m not a thief. Stop calling me a thief,” he sang, before also accusing the outspoken critic of being “gay.”
The exchange has since stirred social media, with fans and critics alike picking sides and reigniting debates around the personal conduct of public figures in Nigeria’s entertainment space.
With both men known for their controversial outbursts, it’s unclear if this feud will simmer anytime soon or escalate into an all-out social media war.
