Popular Nigerian gospel singer and former Project Fame West Africa winner, Chidinma Ekile, has opened up about a harrowing spiritual battle she faced during a deeply personal 40-day retreat of prayer, fasting, and isolation.
In a recent testimony that has stirred emotional reactions online, Chidinma recounted a life-altering period in which she deliberately withdrew from the world in search of divine direction. According to the singer, the 40-day journey was marked by solitude, spiritual warfare, and an overwhelming awareness of God’s presence.
Chidinma revealed that she spent her nights outdoors during the retreat, using music and prayer as tools to connect with God. The experience, she explained, was one of emotional release and soul-deep surrender.
“It was more like I was in a theatre and God performed surgery on me and He shredded me. I have seen it all, and material things don’t move me anymore,” she said.
However, amid the intense spiritual awakening, Chidinma also found herself battling a dark moment, one that could have ended in tragedy. She described an unsettling episode where she was led to a cliff in the dead of night, overcome by a powerful voice urging her to jump.
“The enemy came to me to take me out of there before my time. The devil took me to the top of a cliff at night where everywhere was dark. And right there, He asked me to jump. The voice was so strong,” Chidinma recalled.
Just as she was about to obey the dark voice, she says an invisible force intervened and blocked her path.
“When I was about to jump, I noticed that I was barricaded and it was impossible to jump. Something was just there,” she recounted, describing the unseen presence as divine protection that ultimately saved her life.
The singer’s candid revelation has sparked a wave of empathy and admiration from fans and fellow believers, many of whom praised her for her strength and spiritual openness.
For Chidinma, who made a bold switch from secular music to gospel ministry in 2021, this testimony marks a new depth in her journey of faith, one not just of transformation, but of survival.
Her story stands as a powerful reminder of the hidden battles people often face even in moments of spiritual pursuit, and the divine intervention that can pull them back from the brink.
