Reality TV star turned media entrepreneur, Munirat Anto Lecky, has added another impressive title to her growing portfolio with her latest appointment as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Tourism and Creative Economy to the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The appointment, which takes effect from June 23, 2025, was officially confirmed through a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor. The move marks a significant recognition of Lecky’s contributions to Nigeria’s creative and cultural sectors and positions her to play a strategic role in shaping Edo State’s tourism and creative economy.
Lecky, who rose to fame as a housemate on Big Brother Naija, has since evolved into a respected figure in media, culture, and policy spaces. As SSA, she is expected to work closely with state stakeholders to elevate Edo’s rich cultural heritage including championing projects around the return of the historic Benin Bronzes and the development of new museums and cultural institutions.
“I write to inform you that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved your appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism and Creative Economy with effect from June 23, 2025,” the appointment letter read. “The remuneration attached to the appointment is in line with the prevailing regulations governing the Edo State Public Service. Congratulations.”
Lecky responded with gratitude via Instagram, where she shared the news with her followers.
“I am honoured to serve my state and my country in this new role,” she wrote.
“With the return of our priceless Benin Bronzes, upcoming museum projects, and a growing creative sector, Edo is poised to become a leader in Nigeria’s tourism and cultural economy.”
Currently, Lecky also serves as the Special Assistant on Digital and New Media to Shuaibu Audu, Nigeria’s Minister of Steel Development; a role that underlines her dynamic experience in both public service and creative enterprise.
Her professional journey includes high-level roles such as Head of Operations for Nigeria’s first private basketball league, Programme Manager at Kunle Afolayan Production’s Film and Television Academy, and Arts and Special Projects Lead at ElectHER, a political advocacy organization focused on women’s leadership.
With this new appointment, Anto Lecky is expected to bring her wealth of experience, policy insight, and media savvy to drive initiatives that will position Edo State as a cultural powerhouse and tourist destination, both nationally and globally.
