Self-acclaimed “street-hop prophet” and controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has boldly placed himself among the top five music stars in Nigeria, following the likes of Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Olamide.
In a fiery Instagram video that’s now gone viral, the outspoken artist made the declaration while addressing his ongoing feud with fellow singer Bella Shmurda, insisting on his musical prowess and influence in the industry.
“After Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Olamide, I’m next. EMILOKAN,” he said with characteristic confidence.
“After those four, EMILOKAN. I swear to God who made me I can sing. You can challenge me to any competition. Another singer who knows how to sing like that is Barry Jay and he inherited the gift from his father. I’m heavily talented and booming. I discovered myself before they discovered me. Bella, my songs can motivate your life. They can motivate you to success.”
The bold assertion came in response to a recent interview granted by Bella Shmurda on the ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ podcast hosted by Isbae U. When asked about the possibility of a collaboration with Portable, Bella diplomatically declined, citing creative differences and a desire to avoid conflict.
“I just don’t see the connection in the music. I don’t want wahala, I want peace,” Bella said, making it clear that he had no intention of working with the street-hop star.
But Portable wasn’t having any of it. Known for his unfiltered rants and intense energy, he clapped back in another Instagram video, blasting Bella Shmurda for what he perceived as disrespect and downplaying his achievements.
“Anytime you want to do an interview, don’t mention my name again. You can’t feature me? I have been to America, London. It’s not about who blew first, it’s about who’s still blowing,” he fired back.
The ‘Zazuu Zeh’ crooner also dismissed Bella’s musical relevance, calling him a “failed musician” and suggesting he wouldn’t waste time collaborating with someone who, in his words, is not on his level.
“I don’t roll with failures,” he added, turning the clash into another viral episode in the ever-dramatic saga of Portable’s career.
