Nigerian singer and songwriter Euphemia Ekumah, better known as GoodGirl LA, has peeled back the curtain on her personal struggles, sharing raw and revealing insights into her battle with depression, public pressure, and the strength it took to stay true to herself.

In a series of posts on X, the Bless Me crooner opened up about the painful isolation she endured while going through one of the darkest periods of her life. According to the 28-year-old, what started as a lonely season of depression evolved into a transformative journey marked by self-discovery, purpose, and personal empowerment.

“I had periods of unavoidable isolation and just shit, so I charged it. I focused on self-mastery and transmutation, all the while saying no to certain opportunities that nggas would kill for because I stand for something. I know what I want and where I’m going, and I won’t sell my soul just to belong and keep up appearances. Nggas called me crazy lol but I am—I’m a f*cking genius.”

During this time, LA said she walked away from industry opportunities that many would have jumped at not out of arrogance, but from a place of deep principle. She made it clear that fame, validation, or public acceptance were never her ultimate goals.

“In that period, my ‘friends’ started to look down on me and pretty much just shenked me. Bruh, even my own parents did too and called me a failure. It changed my view on what’s really important. I’ve seen how the world treats a young girl that’s tryna achieve greatness. The cheers and boos aren’t what any of this is about. It’s really all about art, touching my Gs and the world…”

Her candour struck a chord online, especially among fans who have missed her presence on the music scene. Many praised her courage for speaking out and refusing to conform to industry expectations or societal pressure.

Though she’s been relatively quiet musically in recent months, GoodGirl LA’s latest message signals a shift, not a comeback, but a return to what matters most: the art, the message, and the mission.

With her eyes firmly fixed on purpose over popularity, she’s emerging from the shadows not broken, but rebuilt on her own terms.
