Afrobeats singer Iyanya has used his voice and platform to offer comfort and solidarity to the people of Benue State, following the devastating attacks by suspected herdsmen that have left the nation reeling.

In response to the tragic massacre in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area where over 200 people were reportedly killed, the music star has released a heartfelt tribute in the form of a song, dedicated to the victims and their families. The emotionally charged video, shared on X captures Iyanya’s somber tone as he mourns with the people of Benue and calls for divine healing amid the unrelenting wave of violence.

“We are praying for the people of Benue,” he wrote in the caption that accompanied the video.

In the clip, Iyanya can be seen singing solemnly, his voice carrying messages of hope and comfort. “I want to dedicate this song to all people of Benue State. It’s trying time for the whole country because we all share your pain,” he said, his voice laced with emotion.

The singer extended his prayers to those who have lost loved ones in the ongoing crisis, offering words of strength and resilience. “I pray God comforts everybody who lost a friend or brother, mother, father, family member. God will intervene,” he added.

Iyanya further encouraged victims to hold on to their faith, expressing confidence that even in the face of deep sorrow, God is capable of restoring joy. His tribute not only highlights the severity of the situation in Benue but also underscores the role of artists in speaking up and standing in solidarity with victims of national tragedies.

The singer’s gesture has since drawn emotional reactions from fans and supporters across the country, many praising him for using his influence to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis and spread a message of peace.

As the crisis in Benue continues to escalate, calls for intervention both from government and civil society grow louder, and voices like Iyanya’s serve as poignant reminders that beyond the headlines, real lives are being lost and communities shattered.
