“This Has to Stop” – 2Baba Decries Benue Killings, Calls for Collective Action

Veteran Nigerian singer and humanitarian, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has raised his voice against the ongoing wave of violent attacks and killings in Benue State, describing the situation as a “national emergency.”

2Baba, who currently serves as the Technical Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Entertainment and Community Outreach, made his position known in a heartfelt video message shared online. Clearly overwhelmed with emotion, the multiple award-winning artiste condemned the repeated violence and urged all stakeholders in the state to set aside political affiliations and personal interests for the sake of peace.

In his words, “My heart is heavy. I am terribly sad and angry. What is happening in Benue State has become a national emergency. I can’t wrap my head around it anymore. I don’t even know what to say at this point. This has to stop.”

The music icon, who hails from Benue State, further stressed that verbal condemnation was no longer enough and called for deliberate, united efforts to bring the killings to an end.

“My sadness, my anger, my frustration, it’s overwhelming that this keeps happening over and over again. This is no longer something we can just condemn in words. Serious action needs to be taken,” he said.

He ended the emotional video with a passionate appeal for unity among Benue’s key players: “Every stakeholder in Benue must join hands. We can end this. I believe there is a solution.”

2Baba, known not only for his legendary music career but also for his social activism, has long been a vocal advocate for peace and community development, especially in his home state. His latest message adds to growing calls for security reform and decisive action to end the bloodshed that has plagued parts of Benue for years.
