He fought off competition from the likes of teammates Virgil Van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch , Alexander Isak, Declan Rice, Morgan Gibbs-White, Bryan Mbeumo, and Chris Wood of Nottingham Forest to win the award for the second time in his career.

He also won the award in the 2018-19 season, It is the first time since 2018-19 that a Manchester City player has not won the award.

Salah became only the fifth player to win it twice after Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidić and Kevin De Bruyne.

Ryan Gravenberch was awarded the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season award in recognition of his impressive campaign for Liverpool.

The award is decided by votes from the public, and from a panel of football experts.

Salah has scored 28 goals, and recorded 18 assists in 37 Premier League matches this season.

He has now won two awards after winning the Football Writers’ Player of the year award earlier in the month.

Salah will be hoping to add to his tally when Liverpool take on Crystal Palace in their past Premier League game of the season at Anfield on Sunday.
